Development of lake Võrtsjärv, river Emajõgi and lake Peipus cooperation network and waterways

Project duration: 01.01.2024-30.08.2026

Objective: To stimulate the socio-economic development along the banks and areas associated with lake Võrtsjärv, river Emajõgi and lake Peipus. To create lake Võrtsjärv, river Emajõgi and lake Peipus cooperation network with a sustainable administrative and financial model.

  • Regional entrepreneurs and service providers
  • Local communities living near the banks of river Emajõgi
  • Local community associations and organisations
  • Local governments connected to the waterbodies

Outcomes: As a result of the project the cooperation network of lake Võrtsjärv, river Emajõgi and lake Peipus has a systematic and sustainable management plan, structure and operational model, within which a concrete action plan, new joint pilot services, and improved infrastructure for water and nature tourism have been designed and marketing and cultural events have been carried out.

Activities by TAS:

TAS’s role is to coordinate the development activities within the project in cooperation with the Association of Municipalities of Tartu County. This includes:

  • Initiating, developing and marketing public services, joint services and the cooperation network of lake Võrtsjärv, river Emajõgi and lake Peipus.
  • Comprehensive development of the tourism sector target area, marketing and carrying out events, including cleaning activities on river Emajõgi and series of river trips “Discover Emajõgi!”.
  • Marketing activities for the cooperation network

Budget: TAS’s budget in the project is 50 150 €, of which 25% (12 538€) is self-financed.
